A system using hydraulics lets the operator pick up and even reposition the cargo over the outriggers. This design offers a more level balance of the load and allows easier maneuvering between the storage shelves and narrow aisles.
After arriving at the particular shelves intended for the pallet, the hydraulics permit the forks to swing and slide the pallet into place. A reach truck will sometimes fit into an aisle less than 10 feet across without any issue provided there are no obstructions protruding from the shelving.
